CBC 2011: San Francisco

Our trip to San Francisco for CBC was a blast. We got to see a lot of friends from several breweries including Half Acre, Fremont, Goose Island, Lakefront, Revolution, SweetWater, etc. We spent our evenings at some great places, including Le Trappe, Amsterdam Cafe, Toronado, Magnolia, and 21st Amendment. After the conference, we took a trip to Sonoma with our friend Eddie and visited a variety of wineries: Artesa, Buena Vista, Kunde, and Kaz. We finished the day off with a trip to Russian River in Santa Rosa for sour beers, pizza, and a pretty awesome Grateful Dead cover band (The Thugz) that only played the "early"stuff.

Want to Create A Perennial Beer?

Perennial has decided to open up its creative process to the public. Currently, we're on pace to open sometime in July. Our first year beer production calendar is mostly set, but we thought it would be fun to get our fans involved. Our tanks are almost finished being built and we want your help to fill them up!

We will be producing beers in 3 different categories:
  • Farmhouse Ales: Variations on Belgian-style Saisons, French-style Biere de Gardes, or other sessionable styles that would quench one's thirst after a hard day's work.

  • Seasonals: Any style of beer that is seasonal (Kolsch, Christmas Ale, etc.) or any style brewed with special, seasonal ingredients (ex. raspberry Berliner Weiss). A certain time of year should make you crave this kind of beer.

  • Cellaring Beers: High alcohol styles (Imperial Stouts, Barley Wines, etc.), beers aged in spirits barrels (bourbon, brandy, etc.), wild fermented beers (Lambic, Flanders-style ales, etc.), or any style that improves with age, and is perfect to break out on a special occasion.

If you have an idea for a beer that you would like to see in one of these categories, please submit ideas to: brewer@perennialbeer.com. You do not have to be a homebrewer to win this contest--you just have to have an idea that we really like. If we choose your idea, we would like to make an arrangement with you to be a guest brewer for a day to brew your beer. When the beer is packaged, you will get a free case of the beer and a Perennial t-shirt (just remember, if you suggest a type of Lambic, you may be waiting a long time to claim your reward!). Please submit entries by June 30th, 2011. One entry per person please. There may be multiple winners.

A disclaimer: The more creative your idea, the better your chance of success. We have a lot of ideas of our own in the works, plus there may be duplicate entries. In the case that we select an idea with duplicate entries, we will honor the first entry of the idea.
